Nivesh Nitendra wins $12,000 PAK’nSAVE Pukekohe Scholarship

Waiuku College student Niviesh Nitendra has won the 2023 PAK’nSAVE Pukekohe Scholarship. The impressive recipient will put the $12,000 scholarship fund towards studying a Bachelor of Health Sciences at The University of Auckland.
The highly accomplished head student from Waiuku, who has won multiple awards has been focused on becoming a doctor his entire life, but it is non-academic achievements that stood out. The talented musician and karate student who is working towards his brown belt has worked as a teacher at ARST Pooja Cultural Centre Trust in addition to taking part in a wide variety of volunteer work in different community organisations, all while helping to provide extensive care for a sick family member.
The Owner of PAK’nSAVE Pukekohe, Nigel Ollett, who funds the Scholarship said “The finalists were all incredibly inspiring young adults who exemplified what the scholarship is all about. They are all very talented, well-rounded individuals who give back massively to the community. It is quite remarkable how they all fit so much in with their academic, sporting commitments in addition to serving the community. It was a privilege to meet all the highly talented finalists."
Nivesh was overwhelmed when he found out he had been awarded the scholarship. “That is amazing, thank you, that is awesome,” said the surprised 18-year-old.
“I just want to say thank you to Mr Ollett and PAK’nSAVE.”
The other impressive finalists were Maddison Bradley and Maia Hine-Anderson from Onewhero Area School, Willow Phillips from Pukekohe High School, and James Walters from Pukekohe Christian School.
The challenging task of selecting a winner was conducted by the Scholarship Committee made up of: PAK’nSAVE Pukekohe Owner Nigel Ollett; Former Franklin Mayor, Mark Ball; local icon Surinder Edwards and Scholarship Manager Kylie Devlin Sousa.

The PAK’nSAVE Pukekohe financial hardship Scholarship programme is open to Year 13 Students that have attended Onewhero Area School, Tuakau College, Pukekohe High School, Pukekohe Christian School, Waiuku College, Wesley College and ACG Strathallan College for five years, to study any course they wish to. Further details on the 2024 Scholarship will be available on the PAK’ n SAVE Pukekohe facebook page in October with applications available in store at the same time.
